Afternoon with an Ndebele Ngoma

In March 2012 I spent the Afternoon with an Ndebele Ngoma in Mamelodi, South Africa, a township outside of Pretoria. Ngomas are the traditional Healers, Priests and "Ju-Ju" women/men.  He allowed me to video some of our visit. In the course of our discussion we compared notes on our traditions and searched for commonalities.  I was surprised to find out that we knew several of the exact same recipes and treatments.  I found this interesting because I was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio and he in South Africa. This is a photo of his storehouse of natural herbal/plant medicines.  Notice that none are labeled. This is done to discourage potential theft.

This Photo of township resident and Dr.  Hazzard-Donald was taken inside of a township home in Soweto in March 2012
